about GetComparisons

frequently asked questions

GetComparisons is where you can find comparisons between any two entities.

We created this site because we believe that the web lacks a good platform that allows users to easily find meaningful comparisons. People look for comparisons all the time, yet most times when you search for “A vs B”, you have to sift through various sites to find what you are looking for. Even then, more likely than not, the information is scattered and you do not find the kind of side by side comparison you are looking for. And on top of that, the more obscure the terms you are comparing, the harder it is to find the right information.

We’ve designed GetComparisons so web users don’t have to jump through hoops to find what they are looking for. Think of it as a Wikipedia for comparisons, but with the added functionality of feedback, blogs, forums & ratings.

Who's behind it?

Previously, Akshay used to work as an Investment Banker in the software sector. In that avatar, while helping entrepreneurs with the sales of their companies, he got hooked onto the idea entrepreneurship. When his tenure as a banker ended, he started to work on his own venture. While researching different software and applications for his startup, he found that it was not easy to find side by side comparisons for all these various entities; he subsequently launched GetComparisons to solve that problem.

To find out how GetComparisons got started and what's happening behind the scenes, read Akshay's blog - How to Launch a Startup

Travis is a former molecular biologist. He previously performed research into the biology of cancer while working at the University of Chicago's Dept. of Medicine. Although trained as a biologist, he has always loved coding.

As a self-taught programmer, Travis began working as a developer while in high school. He stayed active in the programming community by contributing to numerous open source projects and working on side-projects such as an interactive silent auction website for a local charity. He finally decided to move away from research and pursue his lifelong dream of building a technology company; he first founded and built GymGenius.com, an online journal to effectively keep track of your exercise data, and subsequently joined GetComparisons to be the tech co-founder.
